Uphile is open – Handmade wooden lights from Brittany

A few months ago, Uphile was just a name scribbled on a scrap of paper—a vague idea driven by a simple desire: to share with others the luminous objects I’ve been imagining and crafting for many years. Objects that bring light differently, through wood.

Today, that name becomes a place. A real one. With pages, images, words, tools, and light. At last, I can share my world with curious visitors, attentive eyes, and resonant choices.

Uphile is both an invitation and a workshop.

What I offer here is neither mass production nor a standardized range. These are creations I design and handcraft one by one. Singular wooden lamps. Some are solid and bold like shields; others are open to light, stretched with fabric, or pierced like old folding screens. They’re made to live in your spaces—and to carry a light of their own.

I choose each wood carefully, for its colour, scent, grain, and how it responds to light. I don’t try to tame that light—I try to reveal it.

Every model has a story. You’ll discover a few of them here, page by page. The craft behind them is time-tested, but this website is young—it will evolve and grow. For now, here is a first selection of creations, some words to accompany them, and the possibility, should you wish, to adopt one.

Thank you for being here. Whether you're a design enthusiast, a wood lover, or simply curious, I hope you find as much joy exploring Uphile as I do in opening its doors to you.

See you soon,
Uphile
